Our inventions span 40 years...

FastCAM started in 1976 and invented Interactive Visual Nesting and NC verification under CP/M before the IBM PC and before the mouse. We now have over 40 products and 20 Trademarks, and over 120,000 OEM systems packaged with over 100 NC processing machines. We have partnered many companies including Messer Greisham, ESAB, Koike and more. We remain inventors, with our own laboratory for robotic cutting and we have 20+ patents in progress in Steel processing in the US, France, Germany, Poland and other countries. We have a wide range of proven and emerging technologies focused on the transformative digital and disruptive challenges facing the steel industry, specifically the automation of value-added processing.

Not just a nesting company...

Cut Smarter, Quote Faster™ - Supply of Cut Steel Components in the Digital Era

FastCAM knows the job to be done. FastCAM's success with its innovative Cut smarter, Quote faster™ solutions stems from its ability to create relevant and forward thinking technology with a 'top down' industry view. It is a visionary approach intended to help the metals service sector take big strides towards modernizing and commoditizing heterogeneous areas of the business.

Not just a nesting company, our products are often a central aspect of the total engineering and automation solution. Our most recent success involves part of an overall 'faster to market' business approach and addresses the cost attributed to poor quoting in the steel industry, including the need for universal standards and digital automation at the micro level - as it relates to trading processed or cut steel - both plate and structural.

Our new enterprise mobility initiative will enable steel detailers to fully specify the job to be done so that it can be exchanged with steel suppliers. This complete digital shopping list for cut steel components can be automatically read and costed by our optimized quoting system and returned as a detailed estimate or quote. The Silent Salesman™ offers Steel Service Centers 24/7 seamless online RFQ and transaction selling that meets the demands of modern consumers.

We have also engineered a lightweight digital smart machine, the FastCAM® MultiBOT™, to bring massive speed increases to the very simple but slow technologies of sawing and drilling. The multibot cuts structural steel products such as expanded metal, armco rails, walkway & grating as well as bulb shaped plate for shipbuilding but is ultimately designed to process demand products, including plate, via a range of value-added APPS ...... A small footprint 'Cut Everything' smart machine!

One such APP is weld preparation using our FastCAM® 3D software for the creation of true 3D shapes. The most useful common application for our new technology is precise weld prep for flat and formed plate but we also support pipe cutting with bevels. Other FastCAM® products are in development for 3D including FastSHAPES® with CVBA (Continuously Varying Bevel Angle) technology. Using our technologies Service Centers can get the client or detailer to fully specify a part with weld preparation in a CAM file so that they can supply a perfect marked part, ready to assemble, without NC programming and without the need for grinding.

Our patented technologies allow fully automatic weld preparation, line marking, text marking, drilling, tapping and the production of ready to assemble parts.

Founder and creator, Dr. Matthew J. Fagan, B.Sc (Hons).PhD (Melb.), grew up in his father's steel business gaining practical experience of the many discrete processes in metal cutting and fabrication. He saw first hand the need for purpose built software that gave processing and fabrication businesses exactly what they needed without unwarranted cost and complication. His passion to embrace the digital evolution and empower customers is a driving force in research and development.

Dr. Fagan maintains a close involvement with all of the FastCAM products and leads the company with his unique insight and vision based on the history and predicted disruptive technology challenges facing the steel service industry. FastCAM engineers are either formally qualified or have at least ten years of software programming experience and our new technologies are developed in our own dedicated testing facility.

While remaining privately held, FastCAM Inc. has been continuously profitable, and it has thus been able to fund revolutionary and evolutionary products with a fast and constant development path.

Today, FastCAM is independent and very well established with over 20 patents, many in the US and Europe. We are currently working to capitalize on our forward looking strategic technology investments relating to the future of metal processing and distribution.

FastCAM is located in these locations: FastCAM Inc. in Chicago, USA; FastCAM Pty. Ltd. and FastCAM R&D Laboratory, both in Melbourne, Australia; and FastCAM Shanghai, in China.
